About the 75th

Halifax Amateur Radio Club
1933-2008

The Halifax Amateur Radio Club (H.A.R.C.) – VE1FQ & VE1FO – has a long history dating back to 1933 and may be the only Amateur Radio club in Canada that can demonstrate 75 years of uninterrupted service.

The HARC provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and information related to radio communications and technical experimentation.

Ham radio provides an alternative means of communication during natural disasters and other emergencies. The H.A.R.C. can, and has provided communications facilities and services to aid government agencies in times of crisis, thus fulfilling amateur radio's legislated mandate to provide public service communication.

To celebrate 75 years of uninterrupted service to our community in 2008, the Halifax Amateur Radio Club will be throwing a big party over the weekend of August 22 to 24, 2008. Please come and join us, and take part in our “Down East Ham Festival 2008”.
